The verdict: Sora 70 if surface debris is your problem, Dolphin CC Plus otherwise — and a third option beats both for most people.

The Sora 70’s one decisive advantage
JetPulse surface cleaning. It works the water’s surface and the submerged surfaces in the same cycle, and that matters because a leaf or a pine needle caught floating never sinks, never stains the plaster and never loads your filter. For a pool under a mature tree, surface interception removes more total debris than any improvement to floor cleaning — which the pine-needle roundup works through.
No Dolphin does this, at any price. Maytronics does not make a skimmer.
The Dolphin’s decisive advantages
$600 cheaper
That is most of a solar skimmer, which matters in a moment.
No battery
The Sora 70’s 10,000 mAh pack is its lifespan. Beatbot has no established third-party battery ecosystem, so when the pack goes the machine is in trouble. A Dolphin has no pack to go.
Cheap fine filtration
Beatbot does not publish a micron figure for the Sora 70. A Dolphin with $26 ultra-fine cartridges gives you genuine fine-particle filtration with four in rotation. If silt or pollen is part of your problem, the Dolphin is the better filtration machine despite publishing less.
Parts, at all
Brush $23, tracks $35, filters $26 for four, power supply available, motor assembly available. Every one of those is a numbered part you can buy today — see the parts section.
The third option that beats both
A Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus (~$899) plus a Beatbot iSkim solar skimmer (~$359) is about $1,258 — less than the Sora 70 alone. You get surface skimming that runs free all day with a 9-liter basket (nearly double the Sora 70’s whole debris capacity), a corded floor machine with no battery, and genuine fine filtration for $26 a season.
The trade is two machines to store and two baskets to empty. For a tree-shaded pool it is the best value on this site, and it is the kind of recommendation no manufacturer will ever make. The three-way brand comparison makes the same point.
If your pool is over 40 feet
Neither machine on this page. The CC Plus stops at 40 ft and the Sora 70 is battery-limited; you want the Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme at 50 ft. The large-pool roundup has the field.
